What's New in Campus Ministry?

There are numerous opportunities for students to strengthen their faith, grow in community and learn more about who they are in Campus Ministry. This semester, we are offering two retreats as well as local, national and international service opportunities. The Freshmen Nature Retreat, at Starved Rock State Park, was a great success despite the rain. Our ever-popular Busy Person’s Retreat gave students, faculty, and staff a way to take a break without leaving responsibilities.

BeImpactful, the day of service for incoming students, served at twenty-four different service providers in the area. Our next international service opportunity for students is the annual trip to the Philippines in January.

As a Catholic Benedictine institution, we value our diversity and it is because of our Catholic faith that we welcome everyone. We take this charism of hospitality to heart and therefore have organized a number of interfaith dialogue events. Among other events, the Catholic-Muslim Dialogue group is still going strong.

The most exciting addition to campus this year is the Catholic Life Learning Community. This collaboration of Campus Ministry, the Theology Department, and the Diocese of Joliet gives both instruction and experiential opportunities to walk confidently into adult Catholic life.
