Center for Civic Leadership
and Public Service
Shaping a new generation of public leaders and responsible citizens

Benedictine University is committed to preparing students to be active, responsible citizens and future leaders. With these goals in mind, the Department of Political Science and Distinguished Fellow Jim Ryan, former Illinois Attorney General, have established the Center for Civic Leadership and Public Service.
Effective democratic self-government relies on the character, judgment and involvement of citizens and leaders who are committed to the ideals of American constitutional democracy. The Center offers courses, programs and other learning opportunities to undergraduates that will aid them in fulfilling their civic responsibilities.
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.”
– Margaret Mead, anthropologist
