11th president of Saint John's University,
Reinhart joined the Saint John's faculty in the department of history, teaching
First-Year Symposium, Tudor-Stuart History and Reformation History. He was a faculty
resident in the campus residence halls from 1982-1991. In 1988, he was elected
dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, a post he held until his election to
the presidency by the Board of Regents in January 1991. His work as Dean was characterized
by an acute mastery of detail, commitment to the needs of students, a strong advocacy
of support of the faculty in their teaching, scholarship, and research and a genuinely
moving affection for Saint John's as a university. | |
