  • On Wednesday, February 22, Professor Alexander will give a lecture in Scholl 101 at 7:00 pm, entitled "New Windows on Islam: Finding a Basis for Dialogue in an Age of Conflict". This presentation will explore two very important and closely related features of the Islamic worldview which are important for fruitful dialogue with Muslim peoples. The first is the Islamic understanding of the history of God's interaction with humanity through select messengers--many of whom are well-known figures of the Jewish and Christian Bibles. The second is the Islamic understanding of the religious nature of the human person, regardless of ethnic heritage or official religious affiliation.

  • He will give another lecture on Thursday, February 23, in Scholl 101 at 11:30 am, entitled "Confrontation and Dialogue: the History and Future of Catholic-Muslim Relations". This presentation will explore the brighter and darker sides of Catholic-Muslim relations as a necessary step in a dialogue oriented toward reconciliation and healing--toward honestly recognizing and dignifying our differences and appreciating, celebrating, and building upon our commonalities.
