Faculty Development
As an institution of higher learning, Benedictine University
is commited to the intellectual growth and development of the
employees. While in their first year of employment, faculty
participate in the Faculty Mentoring program. Refer to the Faculty

Technology training:
As an employee of the University you are eligible for a user
account that allows you to access the network, and our email
system. Additionally, you might get accounts that allow you
to access BenULive, and MyBenU (PeopleSoft, our Student Information
System). Your supervisor must fill out the appropriate forms
(includes network, PeopleSoft, and phone access) and submit
them to Office of Information Technology (OIT). For more information,

- Information about MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Lectora,
and Livetext are available online at: www.ben.edu/resources/tutorials.
- BlackBoard (WebCT) and Dreamweaver workshops for faculty
are offered regularly throughout the academic year. Faculty
may also contact Eileen Clark, the Professional Development
Technology Coordinator (eclark@ben.edu
or 630.829.6576) to arrange one-on-one training. BlackBoard

A Dreamweaver tutorial is available in the Online Workshops
section of the Title III web site at: www.ben.edu/titleiii.
- Faculty and staff are notified of additional seminars (e.g.,
PeopleSoft) available throughout the year through e-mail.

Continuing Professional Development:
The University offers Undergraduate and Graduate Professional
Development tuition benefits is to dependents and spouses of
eligible full-time employees. Please e-mail Theresa Oldham at

have questions on professional development programs.
Faculty Colloquia are hosted by the University,
the College of
Business, and the College of Science. The Center for Teaching
and Learning Excellence organizes additional campus workshops
and seminars. Announcements are sent to faculty through the university
e-mail.
Funding for Scholarly Work:
The University has Faculty Development Funds available for
scholarly development on a competitive basis. Instructions,
forms, and due dates are posted on the S: drive.
Endowments for faculty resources are available in several
