Executive Coaching and Development Institute
Benedictine University

Statement of Purpose

The Benedictine University Executive Coaching Institute is proud to introduce The Executive Coaching Certification Program. The purpose is to create a state-of-the-profession coaching certificate that will allow those who successfully complete the program to provide behaviorally sophisticated and sound management coaching services to executives. The objective is to teach an action-oriented and results-based method to assist leaders in accomplishing their goals and strengthening their careers. The program has been specifically designed to help graduate and degreed professionals adapt their unique training and skills to the executive client. For many graduate degreed professionals this is considered a natural evolution.

Curriculum

The curriculum, focused on the skills and processes of executive coaching, is designed to give participants the knowledge, background, and experience to become professional coaches. Faculty will spend considerable time and energy to reinforce the training, for the focus will be devoted to real-life practice both in the classroom and practicum sites. Skill development and application training are provided.

To orient participants, courses will provide a business context similar to that where coaching occurs. Specific courses will address the tactical and strategic nature of the executive role, the psychological foundations of corporate behavior, and the dynamics of the group. These are critical factors influencing the choices a coach will make.

Two additional issues are included in the program that one may find unique. The first is a section dedicated to the building and marketing the individual's coaching practice. Benedictine University is committed to ensure that each student become a competent and successful coach. The second is the consideration of what an individual brings to the coaching profession. The Benedictine University Executive Coaching Institute believes that every participant accepted into the program has the potential, perspective and professional history that can be reframed to show a natural fit in Executive Coaching.

Faculty

The Executive Director, and primary instructor of the program, is a licensed psychologist with an M.B.A. who has 20 years experience in executive coaching and management advisory practice in addition to an academic background building and teaching executive coaching programs. A core of permanent Benedictine faculty and administrators serve as consultants to the Executive Director.

Class Schedule

The schedule of classes is designed to accommodate certificate achievement with full-time employment. Class sessions are held on designated weekends (Saturday and Sunday) for six months. Students will be expected to complete pre-session work and participate in between-session phone conferences. Practicum work may be scheduled around full-time schedules.

  • Class and tele-conference Hours

Cost of the Program

The cost of the program is $8,000 per student. Tuition is due before the first day of the program session. The $50 application fee is separate and will not be applied as a tuition payment.
