Outreach Health Services
The Benedictine University Healthy Table provides nutrition education and counseling services. Free individualized nutrition counseling and group education services are available to seniors age 60 and older, and persons receiving Medicaid and Medicare in DuPage County, Illinois. The services are also available free to members of the Benedictine University faculty, staff, and students. Additionally, long-term care facilities, Congregate Meal sites for seniors, and nonprofit organizations in DuPage County are encouraged to call to request a speaker on a nutrition related topic. All services of the Healthy Table are provided by the Benedictine University Dietetic Interns, experienced in medical nutrition therapy and near completion of their Master of Public Health degree at Benedictine University. To determine availability for an event, or to schedule an appointment, call 630-829-6518. The Benedictine University Healthy Table manager promotes the field of nutrition and dietetics through participation in health and career fairs at local schools. To determine availability for your event call 630-829-6518. In late spring of each year, the nursing program NHRL 311 Community Health Nursing class members conducts a community assessment, and then plans and delivers a health program in the areas of health promotion and disease prevention. If you are interested in becoming a community assessment and education site, contact the Benedictine University Department of Nursing at (630) 829-6550. Hosting an intern at your worksite is a win-win situation. The intern brings fresh ideas, energy, and an extra pair of hands to the organization in exchange for directed learning experiences. To host an intern at your worksite, contact the appropriate departmental coordinator for more information:
