This site contains an explanation of Microsoft Word terminology, features and functions that will be of use to students writing papers for any course. The material on these pages was authored by a BU faculty member, and is intended for on-line use by members of the BU community. Students are also encouraged to make use of the Help features built into Word and other Windows programs.

While many users of Word have a good functional knowledge of the program, the ability to use its features correctly helps users avoid problems of formatting, saving, and storing documents. These pages begin by providing an overview of terminology that should make it easier for users to find answers to problems, and improve communication between end users and technology professionals.

Comments and questions on the material in the pages can be sent to ekubek@ben.edu. Individual requests for technology assistance should not be sent to this address but instead should be directed to the BU Helpdesk.
