Welcome from the Dean!

Dr. María de la Cámara
Dean of the College of Liberal Arts

Welcome to the College of Liberal Arts. Our programs in the arts, humanities, and social sciences, continue to grow in number and quality, as well as opportunities that enhance the academic experience.

Welcome to the College of Liberal Arts

In addition to serving our majors, the College of Liberal Arts is also the home for the Core, Scholars, and Writing programs, which make it possible for every student at the university to benefit from our offerings.

Our faculty members have teaching as their main priority. They are also accomplished scholars with national and international recognition. Their dedication and competence reflects on the success of our students, both while attending Benedictine University and after they graduate.

Please take some time to go through our website so that you can become acquainted with the unique characteristics of each program. Here are some highlights:

• Bilingual Journalism and Global Studies are our newest programs starting Fall 2007.
• Students regularly present papers at professional conferences; they produce films and television programs; and they take part in music performances and art exhibits..
• Programs offer a variety of internships and practica.
• Our Model United Nations Team received top honors in the 2007 competition,
• Study abroad opportunities include semester length programs or short term experiences led by our faculty.
• Regardless of major, students can join the staff of the student newspaper, The Candor. Other publications include Quantum Pulp, and DuPage Arts Life
• The Center for Civic Leadership and Public Service, established by former Illinois Attorney General Jim Ryan and the Political Science department, sponsors seminars and symposia led by prominent public figures and provides scholarships for students who demonstrate leadership potential.

I invite you to visit the College of Liberal Arts at Benedictine University. We would be delighted to meet with you and discuss your academic interests. If you are here on a day when classes are in session, we can also arrange for you to observe a course in your area of interest.
