Research Interests
Dr. Chen’s areas of specialization include twentieth-century U.S. literature, African-American literature, and rhetoric/composition. His research focuses on such topics as African-American literary responses to U.S. empire in the early twentieth century; pedagogical intersections between postcolonial/diasporic studies and composition studies; C. L. R. James’s writings on African-American social movements; and Edwidge Danticat’s fiction.
