Two Benedictine Literature majors presented papers at the recent 17th Annual
Undergraduate Conference on
English Language and Literature, hosted by St. Francis University in Joliet, IL, on March 28 and 29.
Senior Gail Bush presented a paper entitled “In Order to Be Fed ‘Essentially’: Thoreau’s Instinctive Asceticism in Walden,” based on research she conducted for her fall 2007 senior thesis.
Melissa Feinberg, also a Literature major, presented “The Juxtaposition of Women and Food in the Works of Christina Rossetti,” an essay that emerged from research she had undertaken in a fall 2007 class on Victorian Literature.
