Two Benedictine seniors graduating with degrees from the Department of Language and Literature have been named winners of Awards in Academic Honors.
English Language and Literature major Stephany Mirelez, the daughter of Noel and Rachel Mirelez of Crest Hill, received the Award in Academic Honors for the College of Liberal Arts. She also
received this year’s Writing and Publishing Excellence Award by the Department of Communication Arts.
David Gustafson of Warrenville, also an English Language and Literature major, was named recipient of the Non-Traditional Student Award. This award recognizes an exemplary academic record as well as a record of distinguished contributions either on or off campus.
The Awards in Academic Honors are conferred upon students who have distinguished themselves by positive achievement in their field of study. These students have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better and have either completed research of consequence or have been published in their field.
