Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art
This is a studio art degree that utilizes the best that Benedictine University has to offer: a strong core curriculum in the science and humanities and an art program that stresses the time-honored Fine Art tradition of the two-dimensional arts of drawing, painting, printmaking, and photography; computer generated art is also a recent addition to our curriculum. Students will seek to achieve proficiency, by their senior year, in a two dimensional medium of their choice.
The foundation art courses at Benedictine on the 100- and 200-levels are the cornerstone and the pride and joy of the entire art degree. The fundamental principles of drawing, design, color theory, and art history are taught with a conviction of their efficacy to making good works of art. This is a broadly-based visual education, which positions our students to enter the working world with developed artistic skills along with a grounding in Fine Art culture.
