MEPI Student Leaders have the opportunity to travel across the United States and explore the Chicagoland region. After arriving in Washington D.C., students will travel to the State Department, visit museums and begin to adjust to the time, style and culture of the United States.

During the campus stay at Benedictine University, we explore different parts of the city of Chicago and several important suburban cities in the region. Day trips will include Springfield, Illinois, the capital of the state of Illinois, the Art Institutue of Chicago, Navy Pier, the South side of Chicago, the University of Chicago, Naperville, Morton Arboretum and DuPage Forest Preserve, and many other points of interest, education and entertainment.

The first study tour will take the students to San Francisco. There they will visit important cites and attractions in the city-- including the Federal Reserve, City Hall, Chinatown-- and the Bay Area. Site visits include Hewlett Packard in Silicon Valley Stanford University and the University of California, Berkeley, Muir Woods & parts of Marin County, as well as Alcatraz Island and Golden Gate park for sunset over the Pacific Ocean. Our academic focus will be upon responsible corporate leadership, leadership in higher education, and the value and challenges of governing diverse communities and institutions.

The second tour begins Boston with a focus on American political development while walking the city's famed Freedom Trail. Then we explore political leadership through a visit and discussion at the John F. Kennedy Museum and Library. Student then hear from a distinguished panel on interreligious dialogue about peace at Boston, University. The tour then returns to Washington D.C. with site visits at Capitol Hill, the White House, as well as cultural visits and a final, multi-institute meeting at Georgetown University.
