SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 2 (SP2) provides
updates for the database components of an instance of SQL
Server 2000, excluding instances of the SQL Server 2000
Desktop Engine. SP2 includes upgrades to the data engine,
Database client tools and utilities such as SQL Server Enterprise
Manager and osql, and database client connectivity components,
such as the Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server 2000,
the SQL Server 2000 ODBC driver, and the client Net-Libraries.
Software Installation
IMPORTANT: We strongly recommend closing
all open applications and windows and disabling background
applications before installing any of the software.
- Insert the SQL Server 2000 SP2 disc into the CD-ROM
drive. Double-click SETUP.BAT in the CD-ROM directory,
\ENGLISH\SQL2000SP2\STANDARD. The Welcome page
for the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 SP2 Installation Wizard
appears. Click Next.
- The Software License Agreement page appears for Microsoft
SQL Server 2000 SP2. Click the Yes button.
- The Instance Name page appears with the Default check
box selected. Click Next.
- The Connect to Server page appears with The Windows
account information I use to log on to my computer with
(Windows authentication) selected. Click Next.
- The Start Copying Files page appears. Click Next.
- The SQL Server 2000 SP2 Setup program will start installing
SQL Server 2000 SP2 beginning with the MDAC. A message
will appear about backing up files, just ignore and click
OK. When the SQL Server 2000 SP2 Setup program
is complete, the Setup Complete page will appear. Click
the Finish button
