LOBELLO CHALLENGED PEERS
Even from across the globe in Hong Kong alumnus Christopher Lobello ’90 made a significant difference on campus in Lisle. As the Managing Director and the co-Head of Asia Pacific Research at Daiwa Capital Markets, a Japanese brokerage house, Lobello took on a new approach to help raise money for Benedictine University. He wanted to support the David J. Rausch Chemistry Endowment with a monetary donation but also wanted to make a different type of impact. As a loyal supporter of Benedictine University he wanted to encourage his peers to give back to their alma mater. Lobello challenged his classmates to donate and for each dollar in, he would donate 50 cents from a charitable fund that he and his wife established in memory of his grandparents, Frank and Mary Dubczak.
Benedictine University’s Professor Emertius Dave Rausch, Ph.D. was honored to have his fund selected for the challenge and hit the ground running. He sent out letters to a select number of Lobello’s classmates asking them to help maximize their gift by contributing to this matching challenge.
This campaign received great response and brought in over $8k. Dayna Crabb, Advancement Officer for the College of Science, was thrilled at the results especially since it was the first gift back to the University from several of the alumni supporters.
The College of Science is very grateful to Lobello for his generous contribution and for rallying up his peers. He is a great example of an alumnus carrying the Benedictine values.
