National AMSA Upcoming Events

Benedictine University Pre-Med AMSA strongly encourages all of its members to obtain national membership. A four year membership only costs $70 and you receive tons of benefits. You can read more about what kind of benefits here. In addition, national AMSA provides countless of oportunities to all of its members. These range from conferences to institutes to leadership camps and internships. Some notable appearances include Patch Adams, MD at the 2006 Chapter Officers Conference and Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Al Gore speaking at the upcoming Legislative Affairs Leadership Institute on September 13th. Nationa AMSA carries a lot of weight in the medical community and it is important to be a part of it if you are a pre-med.

One thing to mention is that medical schools actually check with national AMSA to see whether you're registered as a national member or not. There have been stories in the past of pre-med students who went through the application process stating that they were a part of AMSA. While this isn't really a false statement, their mistake was that although they participated in the AMSA activities held at their local chapter, they failed to become national members. This little tidbit is crucial because medical schools will consider it as a lie if they check with AMSA and you aren't in their records as a member. And for obvious reasons, this isn't a good thing even if you didn't intentionally mean to be lying. So what are you waiting for? Sign up now!
