ADVERTISING
POLICIES
All advertising that appears
in The Candor shall uphold Benedictine University’s
mission, student development goals and Benedictine University
community standards as described within this Advertising Policy
and interpreted by Benedictine University’s Board of
Trustees, President, Executive Vice President, Provost and
Student Media Board. The editor-in-chief shall ensure that
advertising staff members are aware of the standards described
in this Advertising Policy.
Advertising that appears in The Candor shall tell the truth about
the products or services offered and not mislead readers through false statements
or omissions.
The Candor will not accept any advertisement that is derogatory
to individuals or groups of people; uses sexual themes or connotations
(including explicit nudity); depicts unnecessary violence; promotes
academic dishonesty; promotes gambling (with the exception of bingo);
promotes the irresponsible consumption of alcohol; promotes abortion;
promotes the violation of federal, state or local laws; depicts or
describes drug paraphernalia; or makes tasteless reference to body
functions.
The Candor will not accept any advertisement that promotes
a product or service contrary to the principles stated in the Benedictine
University Mission, published in the Benedictine University Student
Handbook.
The Candor will not accept any forms of advertising from competitor
academic institutions, as mandated by the administration.
The Candor will not knowingly publish an ad that does not
conform to these standards. The Candor’s advertising
staff will make every effort to ensure that advertisements submitted
to The Candor meet the standards described in this Advertising
Policy. The editor-in-chief is ultimately responsible for ensuring
that advertisements published in The Candor meet the standards
set forth in this document.
If a reader should bring to The
Candor’s attention an ad that might be in violation
of these standards, the editor-in-chief will investigate
the matter.

If the editor-in-chief determines that the advertisement violated
these standards, he or she will cease publication of the advertisement.

camera-ready ads in the correct size by the appropriate deadline.
Advertisers will be sent an invoice with a tearsheet where the
ad appears. Send payment within two weeks to avoid late charges.
