Benedictine University gets into the holiday spirit
By David Arnone
Every holiday season, people
throughout the world spend time decorating and getting themselves
into the festive mood. This year Benedictine University’s
Student activities gathered and decorated the Krasa Fireside
lounge on Tuesday evening from 7:00p.m.-8:00p.m. for this
year’s holiday season.
For many years, the student activities department has offered
this generosity of decorating the Krasa Center with its many
Christmas garland. The goal of this operation is to help not
only decorate our school, but also to bring the Christmas
spirit to the students and faculty members.
This year, student activities put up a Christmas tree with
white lights that are circulate around it. Christmas garland
and bows were also placed within the Krasa fireside lounge
area to give off a more festive mood for this holiday season.
Eric Guthrie, assistant student activities coordinator, said
“decorating the fireside lounge was a new experience.
That was my first time putting up a Christmas tree.”
Student Activities was not the only department on campus who
was responsible for our Christmas decorating. Campus Services
contributed to the decorating effort by placing 200 sets of
lights on our main entrance area by the Benedictine sign and
by the front of Birck Hall of Science on the shrubbery.
Campus services also placed lighting on the back of the Krasa
Center right outside of the Fireside lounge as well as by
some of the housing located across the way at Founders Woods.
Campus Services office manager Janice Giovanini said that
Student and student worker of the Campus Services department
Ashley Tinerellie said in regards to the maintenance crew
members “they put a lot of hard work and time into putting
the lights up. They look great.”
