On March 5, 1924, The Abbey purchased the 134-acre property southwest of its farm from Mr. Carel for a price of $19,000.00. On March 20, the monastic chapter approved a loan for the construction of a gymnasium, powerhouse, chimney, and addion to the west wing. Negotiations were in progress for the purchase of the Dihl Farm, south of the Abbey's property. The purchase was made in 1925.
