During World War II, Mr. Clark served in the U.S. Army in England, North Africa,
and Italy with the 14th Machine Records Unit. During the war, this unit set
up "offices on wheels" designed by IBM engineers to generate reports
that served as authoritative sources of information vital to the distribution
of supplies to the war zones.
