Chemical
Abstracts: Student access to Chemial Abstracts is limited to after
5:00 p.m. on weekdays and all day Saturday and Sunday. Access is ONLY available
in the library. Please ask the librarian on duty at the Reference
Desk to log in to the database for you.
Web
of Science: The Web of Science provides you with access to citations
published in high quality, peer-reviewed scientific journals published from
1994 to the present. It also allows you to search the Science Citation Index
to measure the impact of particular journal articles on the scientific community.
NIST
Chemistry WebBook: The 1997 release is the third edition of the NIST Chemistry
WebBook which contains thermodynamic data for over 5000 organic and small
inorganic compounds and ion-energetics data for over 14,000 compounds. A number
of new classes of data have been added including vapor pressure data for over
5000 compounds, Antoine coefficient data for over 1200 compounds, heats of
reaction for over 1300 compounds, mass spectra for over 8000 compounds, and
IR spectra for over 5000 compounds. There are many avenues for searching the
database. Structures are given for most species, as well as common and commercial
names.
The
NIOSH Pocket Guide to Chemical Hazards (NPG) is intended as a source of
general industrial hygiene information on several hundred chemicals/classes
for workers, employers, and occupational health professionals. The NPG does
not contain an analysis of all pertinent data, rather it presents key information
and data in abbreviated or tabular form for chemicals or substance groupings
(e.g. cyanides, fluorides, manganese compounds) that are found in the work
environment. The information found in the NPG should help users recognize
and control occupational chemical hazards.
