  • Congratulations to our new officers for 2008-2009: Pres. - Scott Toth, Vice Prsident - Asif Kamal, Treasuerer - Amanda Pedersen, Secretary/Historian - Tricia Avanzado
  • Congratulations for three of our members who to were honored in the Benedictine University Senior Awards for 2008
    • Kiera Vizza (ACS/SPS Co-President) who has been awarded the Thomas J. Dyba Leadership Award. This awarded is given to a student for outstanding ability to initiate and organize worthwhile activities, to encourage and direct the cooperative efforts of others and to command respect as a campus leader.
    • Kristyn Bales (ACS/SPS Co-President) for being awarded a award in Academic Honors for the College of Science. The awards in academic honors are conferred on students from across the University who have distinguished themselves by positive achievements in the realm of their major field of study.
    • Angela Peverly (Events Coordinator) for her nomination for a Senior Honors Award.
  • Congratulations to Angela Peverly who was awarded a 2008 I.M. Kolthoff award that provides travel funding for undergraduate students to present a poster on their research at the national meeting. The I.M. Kolthoff Award is given annually by the Analytical Chemistry division of the ACS to deserving undergraduates who have done undergraduate research in the field of analytical chemistry in celebration of the life and accomplishments of the late Professor Izaak Maurits Kolthoff, viewed by many as the father of modern analytical chemistry. This year, three undergraduate students received the award. Peverly gave a poster presentation titled “Comparative study of methods for enzyme immobilization based on Glucose oxidase response with a rotating amperometric biosensor” based on her undergraduate research done at Benedictine University.
