Campus Services

Campus Services personnel provide custodial services and clean all areas except student rooms. Requests for repairs or replacement of room furnishings can be made by completing a work order.

Laundry Facilities

Washers and dryers are available free of charge in each residence hall and apartment. Repair telephone numbers are available on the machines.

Telephone Service

Residents must supply their own telephones. Public telephones are available in each residence hall. Abuse of telephones may lead to the removal of telephone service by the University. Abuse of service may include, but is not limited to: damage of equipment or wiring, violation of contract provisions, fraudulent, harassing or illegal use. Residents who experience telephone problems such as harassment, fraud or illegal use of authorization codes should immediately contact the Director of Residence Life. Students who fail to pay telephone charges are subject to late payment and reconnection fees, loss of telephone service and disciplinary action.

Collect and Third Party Billed Calls

These calls are normally handled by an operator and must be accepted by the person of record on the phone line. Since the students are sharing phone lines and room changes are common, all collect and third party billed calls are blocked. It is possible that these calls may get through depending on the operator service company completing the call. If this happens, you should not accept the charges. If you accept the charges, the Telecommunications Office will split the cost of the call along with a $10 service charge between the students registered in the room. This charge will appear on your student account.

Cable TV

Cable television service is provided in all residence hall rooms and apartments. Residents must bring cable ready televisions. Problems with reception should be reported to the Office of Information Technology at (630) 829-6684.

Computer Network

Direct access to the Benedictine University network is available. Residents must provide a personal computer that meets the minimum configuration requirements. Please see the Student Handbook for the statement of Responsible Use of University Technology Resources. Please contact the Office of Information Technology for further details at 630-829-6684.

Vending Machines

Vending machines for various products are available. Should one fail to function properly, first report it to the residence hall staff who will arrange to post an “Out Of Order” sign on the machine, then report it to the Food Service Office, which will compensate you for your loss and arrange for repair of the machine. Legal action will be taken against any damage or theft of any vending machines and/or the building in which it occurred will be subject to a fine.
