Intellectual Dimension of Wellness



As an institution of higher learning, we are commited to the intellectual growth and development of the entire University community. Fostering a stimulating creative work environment contributes to your state of well-being.

Continuing Development:

The University offers Undergraduate and Graduate Professional Development tuition benefits is to dependents and spouses of eligible full-time employees. Please e-mail Theresa Oldham at toldham@ben.edu if you have questions on professional development programs.

Employees eligible for tuition benefits may enroll in a College of Adult and Professional Studies professional development program to earn continuing education units at no cost. Some restrictions apply: supervisor recommendation; dependent upon number of students enrolled and no more than two tuition benefit employees per program.

The University offers numerous degree programs from which to choose. For those interested in taking one or more health-related courses, the university offers many areas, including clinical exercise physiology, counseling psychology, health administration, nursing, nutrition, public health, social work, and wellness.

Throughout the year, the University offers training to advance the knowledge and skills of the employees, contributing to the intellectual and occupational dimensions of wellness. For example, the University offers workshops and seminars for faculty to foster the development of excellence in on pedagogy and assessment of student learning.

Technology training is available through the University:

  • MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Lectora, and Livetext are available online at: www.ben.edu/resources/tutorials.
  • WebCT and Dreamweaver workshops for faculty are offered regularly throughout the academic year. Faculty may also contact Eileen Clark, the Professional Development Technology Coordinator (eclark@ben.edu or 630.829.6576) to arrange one-on-one training. WebCT support materials are available at: www.ben.edu/programs/TLC/WebCT.asp. A Dreamweaver tutorial is available in the Online Workshops section of the Title III web site at: www.ben.edu/titleiii.
  • Faculty and staff are notified of additional seminars (e.g., PeopleSoft) available throughout the year through e-mail.
