Wellness
Occupational Dimension of Wellness
Benedictine University values and respects its employees.
As a result, the Workforce Initiative is being implemented to
recognize the many contributions each employee brings to the University and to create a positive work environment for all.
Clearer expectations of outcomes promote greater satisfaction and occupational health and wellness.
The Office of Personnel Resources hosts events during Founders Week
that promote a better understanding of the mission and values of the
University.
The Office of Personnel Resources hosts Employee Recognition Day, in which the value of all
employees are celebrated. Each year, a few employees are carefully chosen as award recipients to be
recognized as those who truly embody the mission and values of the University:
- A search for God by oneself and with others.
- A tradition of hospitality.
- An appreciation for living and working in community.
- A concern for the development of each person.
- An emphasis on a life lived in balance.
- And, a dedication to responsible stewardship of the earth.
- Consistent with our value "a commitment to academic excellence," faculty who were awarded tenure and promotions are also recognized on this day.
The University offers numerous ways in which an employee can contribute his or her unique talents, skills, or gifts
to the University and methods in which one can develop intellectually.
An actively involved employee, who advances skill(s) through work, contributes to his/her occupational dimension of
wellness.
The Benedictine Life Award honors individuals who clearly demonstrate the Benedictine values.

Business and Finance. In 2009, the university presented the Benedictine Life Award to Jay Stuart,
Director of Campus Services.
