  • Assisting in the selection and registration of classes

Why do I need to meet with my advisor?

Your advisor will help assist you in creating a course of action for your academic, personal, and professional goals. You will meet with your academic advisor at least once a semester to discuss your current term, formulate upcoming goals, and review the schedule for the upcoming term.

Your advisor will help you:

  • Understand university policies and requirements
  • Create a schedule consistent with your academic abilities and interests
  • Define and develop realistic goals
  • Match you with appropriate campus resources
  • Monitor your academic progress
How do I prepare for my advising appointment?

In order to get the most out of your advising appointment, we suggest you prepare by taking the following steps:

  • Review the course schedule and select courses of interest
  • Clarify your goals for the upcoming term
  • Write down any questions or concerns
  • Become knowledgeable about your program requirements
  • Become familiar with electronic resources (MyBenU, email, D2L)
