Pre-Nursing Concentration (transfer program)
Students desiring to apply to one of the several BSN programs in the central Illinois area are required to complete prerequisite courses. Students in this pre-nursing concentration must maintain a 3.0 GPA each semester, and can complete the prerequisite courses in 2 years (4 semesters), but do not earn a degree fromBenedictine. The Springfield campus has a proven track record of preparing students to apply and get accepted to several external BSN programs, including (but not limited to):
Illinois State University - Mennonite College of Nursing (Normal)
St. Francis Medical Center – College of Nursing (Peoria)
Each BSN program has specific entrance requirements;therefore it is critical that students identify which program they plan to apply to no later than their second semester of classes. Acceptance to these programs is highly competitive, and attendance at Benedictine does not guarantee acceptance to any of these BSN programs.
