Springfield: Hosts Catholic grade school art exhibition

The annual Art Showcase, a juried exhibition of Springfield area Catholic Grade School artwork will be on display from March 12-April 10 in the Charles E. Becker Library on the Benedictine University at Springfield campus at 1500 N. Fifth St.
The show is sponsored by the Benedictine University at Springfield Art Department and is juried by art department students. The participating Catholic grade schools in Springfield participating in the exhibition consists of Blessed Sacrament, Cathedral, Christ the King, Little Flower, St. Agnes, St. Aloysius, and for the first time this year, the Catholic Home Schools .These schools submit the winning artwork from their schools’ kindergarten through 8th grade students for further judging.
Awards bestowed at the exhibition include best of show, first, second, third, honorable mention and participants. A closing awards ceremony and reception for the artists and their families will be held at 4:30 p.m. on April 10 in Angela Hall on the Benedictine University at Springfield campus.

The gallery is open from 8:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Fridays and 12:00-5:00 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. The gallery will be closed for Easter Recess from March 29-April 1.
