Career Development  

The Career Development Office offers comprehensive services to assist students and alumni in developing, implementing and evaluating career and life plans. Our goal is to promote personal and professional development by utilizing a holistic approach to achieve their career goals, provide them with a foundation to become self-directed learners, and educate them through the career planning process. This mission will be accomplished through collaboration with students, alumni, faculty and employers and a commitment to empowering students and alumni to be active participants in their own career development process. Visit us during walk-in hours! No appointment is necessary during these periods; simply come on in to the Career Development Center in Krasa 010, and meet with a career adviser, a Career Peer Educator (CPE) or our Graduate Assistant for help with resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles, and more:

  • Monday: 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday: 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.
  • Thursday: 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. & 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.
  • Friday: 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Are you looking for a job on campus or need help with your resume or cover letter? Attend any of our workshops during the lunch hour in Krasa 012 - Career Development Library and Technology Center. Bring a copy of your resume/cover letter (not mandatory). We'll also cover a wide range of topics in these EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING WORKSHOPS such as:

  • Networking
  • Finding an internship or externship
  • Informational interviewing
  • Job shadowing
  • Resume and cover letter writing
  • Personal branding
  • Writing your personal statement
  • Creating your LinkedIn page
  • Interviewing skills for job/internship/graduate school


Through these opportunities you will develop knowledge, skills, and experiences to complement and enhance your academic experience, and prepare you for your next professional step! Workshops are over for the Spring semester and will continue in the Fall. See "Coming Events" for special upcoming events and programs.

Starting Spring 2014 semester, Career Development is offering a new Benedictine University Virtual Career Center to all students and alumni! Upload your resumes for feedback, post your documents in the virtual career center, and apply for jobs & internships within the system. Employers and alumni are looking to provide opportunities JUST FOR BENEDICTINE STUDENTS! Be sure to register for this new, FREE service. Visit our Virtual Career Center page for more information.

Please keep in mind that since this is a new resource, it will take some time to populate job and internship opportunities. In the coming weeks, there may also be some user interface changes both on the student/alumni and employer sites. If you have any questions, please contact our office for assistance.
