Coronavirus (COVID-19) Facilities Management Statement
Please note that during the upcoming university shift to a virtual campus, the physical plant operations of the university will continue to be performed at the level the university would normally expect during normal operational times. We understand and pride ourselves on the importance that facility maintenance, housekeeping and janitorial services, and the upkeep of our campus grounds support the function of the university. We pride ourselves in our status as “essential personnel.” Here is what the university community can come to expect during the virtual campus period. Our operation will remain fluid to meet the campus needs as they arise:
Maintenance and Engineer Staff:
While our staffing will remain in-tact as it would be under normal university scheduling, we have worked with staff to ensure that they are promoting “social distancing” while at the same time lending support to our the physical plant operation. Maintenance and Engineering staff will be consistently present from 6:00am-11:30pm throughout the week and always in a position to respond to facility emergencies and needs.
Grounds and Landscaping Staff:
Our campus grounds and landscaping services will continue to prepare the campus for the Spring season. We understand the importance of this time of year as we look to pack away remnants of the winter season and set our sights on a new season. Keeping in mind our commitment to the “Campus 365” mentality, we understand how vital it is to maintain how our campus looks and feels on a consistent basis.
Housekeeping and Event Support:
The move to a virtual campus model will enable the continued cleaning of all of our campus facilities, specifically those high touch areas—classrooms, restrooms, door handles, elevators). Our janitorial provider has started to introduce E23 which is a neutral disinfectant predominantly used in hospital, healthcare, and industrial settings. We have also transitioned to the use of chemicals such as Tilex and others that have a more concentrated bleach additive with a broader germ kill rate than regular cleaners. Lastly, we have installed (within the last week) several new wall mounted hand sanitizer stations throughout campus. We are working diligently with our janitorial provider, Midway Staffing, on fluid cleaning plans based on campus usage. We will continue to provide the campus with housekeeping and janitorial support 24 hours per day/7 days per week.
