Tom Juliano

Scientific research has dominated much of Tom Juliano’s professional career. After earning a bachelor’s of science in mechanical engineering and a Ph.D. in materials engineering, Juliano experienced career successes in research and publishing.

However, not wanting to be bound to engineering like protons to a nucleus, Juliano explains why he continued to be pulled in a direction away from research and engineering. This electronic draw eventually led Juliano to the Alternative Certification Program at Benedictine University.

As an expert in understanding how things align, Juliano tells how he feels his natural talents are more closely aligned with teaching.

Daria Pennington

Imagine an engineering career that has daily responsibilities for complex environmental remediation. Now imagine changing this career and becoming a teacher. Imaginations aside, this is exactly what former environmental engineer Daria Pennington did and she could not be happier.

With master degrees in environmental engineering and environmental science, Pennington tells why she put her engineering days behind her in pursuit of a career as a teacher. She explains how she was able to make a successful transition into teaching and why she chose the Alternative Certification Program at Benedictine University.

Read more about Aurora native Daria Pennington's story and how the Alternative Certification Program at Benedictine University led her to her present career path.
