Homecoming 2021

Birds of a Feather Flock Together

It’s almost time for Homecoming, always a meaningful and festive time of year on our campus. Celebrating our alumni each year helps us to not only remember and honor their great achievements, but it also enables current students to learn firsthand from past students how the Benedictine education and experience can prepare them for success in the upcoming chapters of their lives.

And perhaps even more important…Homecoming is fun! And we could all use some of that right now.

First and foremost, I want everyone to know that we are moving forward with what we know will be a great Homecoming next month. However, when our 2021 Homecoming plans were originally developed and announced, the pandemic was on the wane, and we hadn’t yet heard of the variant that is significantly contributing to the recent rise in COVID-19 positive cases. So, once again, we must take into consideration the health and safety of everyone who lives, works, and visits our campus.

The good news is with a few revisions to the itinerary, we can make our 2021 Homecoming a safe series of events for all our attendees. Here’s some topline modifications:

The Birds of a Feather Laugh Together event at our Lisle campus is being postponed. Watch for information on how you can see local TV hosts/comedians Ana Belaval, Mike Toomey, and Pat Tomasulo performing on our campus sometime in the Spring.

Three events will now be staged virtually: Trivia Night (September 21) and the Rebound in the Recovery (September 23) – see below for information on these events. Our Golden Eagles dinners are being postponed until May 2022. Both sporting events will move forward as planned: Women’s Soccer on September 24 at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m., and the Benedictine vs. Eureka football game on September 25 at 1 p.m. Go Eagles!

See the entire revised 2021 Homecoming itinerary below. Let’s not call it final quite yet, we need to remain flexible as these unpredictable times require. We’ll alert you immediately via our website as additional revisions become necessary.

Thank you, everyone. And Happy Homecoming to you all!
