Awards and Recognitions

Benedictine’s Ph.D. in OD program has received more than 100 professional awards and special recognitions nationally and internationally, and boasts one of the largest alumni networks involving executive leadership at major organizations around the world. For more than 50 years, the program has been providing groundbreaking insight into the workings of top successful organizations, garnering repeated accolades from the Academy of Management, OD Network and OD Institute.

2010-2021

2021

  • Donna Ogle with co-authors Ramkrishnan (Ram) Tenkasi and Bart Brock selected as finalist for the Rupert Chisholm Theory to Practice best paper award from the ODC division Academy of Management.

2017

  • Peter Sorensen was honored with the Organization Development Network’s prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. The award is given to individuals who have served the profession over an extended period of time, have earned the respect and admiration of professional colleagues and have freely engaged not only contemporaries, but also have been committed to maintain a dynamic connection to all generations of OD practitioners.
  • Sorensen, Yaeger and Ramkrishnan Tenkasi—three of the leading faculty members in Benedictine’s OD program—were prominently featured in a new book, “The Palgrave Handbook of Organizational Change Thinkers.” The book includes profiles of prominent scholars and highlights their professional backgrounds, key insights, contributions and legacy within the field of organizational change.
  • Ramkrishnan (Ram) Tenkasi co-chairs with George Hay Showcase Symposium “Transforming Theory and Research into Practice” at the National Academy of Management.

2016

  • Sorensen and Therese Yaeger chaired the Showcase Symposium, “Making Research Meaningful: Translating Scholarly Work to Application,” at the national Academy of Management’s annual meeting.
  • Tanjia Coleman (with Therese Yaeger and Peter Sorensen) was awarded Best Scholar-Practitioner Collaboration from the Management Consulting Division of the Academy of Management.
  • Uzonna Olumba was awarded Best Student Paper (English) at the Institut de Socio-Economie des Enterprises et des Organizations/Academy of Mangement conference in Lyon, France.
  • Ramkrishnan (Ram) Tenkasi showcase symposium “Making Academic Practitioner Research Partnerships Meaningful” at the National Academy of Management.

2015

  • Namporn Thanetsunthorn (with Therese Yaeger and Peter Sorensen) was awarded Outstanding Paper on Ethical Issues in Consulting by the Academy of Management.
  • Therese Yaeger and Peter Sorensen chaired the Showcase Symposium, “Governing OD Growth and History: Re-visiting the 1969 Addison-Wesley 6-volume series with OD Scholars,” at the national Academy of Management’s annual meeting.

2014

  • Dawn Newman, with Yaeger, Sorensen and Hinrichs, receives the Best Scholar-Practitioner Collaboration Award from the Management Consulting Division of the Academy of Management.
  • Leslie McKnight named recipient of Outstanding Paper on Ethical Issues in Consulting Award by the Academy of Management.
  • Barbara Ragland named recipient of the Information Age Publishing Award for Outstanding Doctoral Student Research by the Academy of Management.
  • Tanjia Coleman named recipient of Best Student Paper Award at the Academy of Management-Organization Development (AOM-OD) conference in Lyon, France.
  • Regina Troxell named recipient of Best Student Paper Award by the International Society for Organization Development.

  • Frank Houston named recipient of Best Student Paper Award at the AOM-OD conference in Lyon, France.
  • Henry Williams named recipient of Best Faculty Paper Award at the AOM-OD conference in Lyon, France.
  • Ousama Salha named recipient of Outstanding Paper on Ethical Issues in Consulting Award by the Academy of Management.
