Internship FAQs

How long does an internship last?

To obtain your MPH degree, you will need to acquire 240 hours of internship experience. Depending on the site and any agreements with your preceptor, some of that work may be done off-site (for example, if you need to perform data analysis or write reports, they may allow you to do this work outside of the site. Such arrangements are at the discretion of your worksite and preceptor).

In addition to the 240 hours of field/workplace experience, you will also need to turn in regular reports to your internship instructor on either D2L (campus students) or Engage (online students). Plan to spend 1-2 hours per week, plus an additional 10+ hours upon the conclusion of your internship, working on your required course materials.

Do I get charged for the internship course?

Yes, you will be charged for 6 credits of tuition. If you require financial aid, you must arrange for this course to be part of your finanical aid package. Degrees will not be conferred if there is a balance due on your student business account.
