The Artist in Residence Program

Artist Performance

Join us for a staged reading of artist in residence Jamil Khoury's new play, "Mosque Alert," at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18, in Goodwin Hall, Room 321. Inspired by the "Ground Zero Mosque"-controversy, "Mosque Alert" tells the story of three families whose lives are interrupted by a proposed Islamic center on a beloved local landmark. The play--called an "explosive world premiere" by theatre critic Lawrence Bommer--was developed as an online new play and civic engagement project that sourced character and conflict from online and in-person feedback over several years. A talkback with playwright Jamil Khoury will follow the performance.
