Dept. of Psychology, Sociology, and Criminal Justice

Field Placements

The Department of Psychology and Sociology offers 3, 5 and 6 credit hour field placements during the fall, spring and summer semesters. Field placements are sites approved by the Field Placement Director and are located primarily in DuPage County, although sites are also maintained throughout the Chicago metropolitan area.

To apply to complete a field placement, students must have an overall GPA of 2.5 and have received a grade of C or better in the pre-requisite class, Clinical Practicum Lab (CJUS 356/PSYC 356/SOCL 356).

Students working

Students majoring in Criminal Justice and those minoring in Social Work or Life Span Services are required to complete a minimum of a 3 credit hour field placement. Psychology and Sociology majors are not required to complete a field placement as part of their undergraduate studies. In addition to completing the required hours, students present learning objectives to faculty, peers and their supervisors at the conclusion of the semester.

Inquiries about the field placement program should be directed to Jane Boumgarden, Associate Professor and Field Placement Director.
