Benedictine University 2020 Global
Virtual Commencement Ceremony
Sunday, October 18
Updated August 13, 2020
Illinois has made significant strides to reopen local businesses and safely gather the community. But unfortunately, the threat of the COVID-19 virus still remains as the counts of positive cases continue to rise in many areas. As much as we would love to invite our graduates and their loved ones to celebrate in-person, the recent trends have made it clear that large gatherings will continue to be prohibited in the coming months.
With this in mind, we have decided to hold a virtual commencement ceremony on Sunday, October 18 for all recent Benedictine graduates. After months of discussion and deliberation, we believe that this difficult decision is necessary in order to keep everyone safe.
Your cap and gown do not need to be returned after Commencement. They are yours to keep as a memento of this celebration of your achievement.
If you ordered and have not received your commencement garb, the ordering website will re-open Monday, August 17 through September 4, 2020. Once re-opened please place a new order. When shipping directly to your mailing address, your order should arrive in about 4-weeks. Thank you for your patience while waiting for your commencement garb.
On the cart page in the lower left corner of the screen is an area ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REGALIA SPECIAL NOTES. In this area you can request a 2019 tassel or any special needs regarding your order. You should note that you have a dual degree in the Special notes area.
Your cap and gown will be shipped to your home address on record. If you wish to have your cap and gown sent to an address other then the address on record, you must fill out and submit the Third Party Release Form for Caps and Gowns.
Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic the cap and gown orders are delayed. You should receive your order about 2-weeks after placing your order.
All financial obligations, including graduation fees and library obligations, must be settled before your cap and gown will be shipped. Benedictine accepts cash, personal checks, money orders, Visa, MasterCard and Discover. American Express can only be accepted in the Office of Student Accounts in Lownik 105 (not available online via MyBenU). Payments made by personal check, business check or online by ACH transfer will be subject to a three business day hold to allow for clearance of funds.
If you are eligible for an Academic Honor Cord, they will be shipped to to your mailing address on record. If you have a change of address, please fill out and submit the Change of Student Information Form to the Office of the Registar no later than August 31, 2020. At this time there are no ceremony details to provide. More details will be posted once available.
