NACC Fall 2020 Athletics Announcement

To the Benedictine Athletic Community:

After intensive research, debate and collaboration between all member colleges, the Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference (NACC) has decided to move all NACC competition from the first semester to the second semester (after January 1). The NACC is among dozens of Division III conferences to make this decision.

We have peace of mind knowing that this is the right decision for the health and safety of our entire community. Benedictine University is committed to getting you back to campus and a return to an engaging and well-rounded college experience. The opportunity for you to participate in your sport, with your teammates, pursuing your goals is a big part of the experience we want for you. In light of the disruption caused by the pandemic, the NCAA will provide additional dates for practices and team contact. We intend to use them. As long as it is safe to do so, BenU teams will participate in as many athletic opportunities as possible.

As a former student-athlete and coach at Benedictine, I understand this is disappointing. You have all worked so hard and pushed yourselves to prepare to compete, to contribute to your teams and to be part of something truly special. The Benedictine community has always been inspired by your talent, strength and dedication. We will honor your commitment by delivering on our promise of a transformative educational experience and a rewarding collegiate athletic experience.

You are still part of a community of champions. You will still experience an intense team bond living on campus with your teammates. You will engage in leadership mentoring and be immersed in one of the most progressive, challenging strength and conditioning programs. And we will use this momentary pause to channel our passion for the game into athletic development, both individually and as a team. We will continue to practice and train, and we will emerge from the pandemic united in our courage, better from this challenge and champions of our values.

Together, we will BUnited. We are excited to see you and have you back as members of our Benedictine community. Please stay strong and S.O.A.R. like Eagles!
