Volunteer for the BenU Library's website usability study

October 23, 2015

The Benedictine University Library is conducting website usability testing. In an effort to improve the library website, we’re looking for current Benedictine University undergraduates on the Lisle campus who are interested in participating in the study. If you are selected to participate, you will receive a $10 Barnes and Noble gift card upon completion of the testing.  Laptop

What will I be doing in a usability study?

You will meet one-on-one with a librarian to participate in one of two types of usability tests, selected at random by the library research team:

  • Scenario Tasks – You will be asked to perform a series of tasks on the library website and to think out loud as you go.
  • Card Sorting – You will be asked to organize library webpages into categories that make sense to you and to think out loud as you go.
How long will my session last?

No more than 30 minutes.

When and where?

Sessions will take place November 1 through November 30 between 9:00am-5:00pm. We will set up a time and date that works best for you. You will be asked to participate in person in the library on the Lisle campus.

Interested in participating?

Please contact Emerging Technologies Librarian Sarah Kurpiel at or (630) 829-6590. She will ask you some questions to help us determine if you qualify for the study and provide you with additional information.

This study has been approved by the Benedictine University Institutional Review Board (IRB).
