Introducing the New RefWorks

September 7, 2016

An Important Message for RefWorks Users:

You can now migrate your citations to the New RefWorks. The current Legacy RefWorks is scheduled to retire in January 2018. If you do not migrate to the New RefWorks before that time, your account will migrate automatically.

Plan your move to the New RefWorks:

  1. Decide when to make the move. We do not recommend migrating to the New RefWorks if you are working on a deadline for a paper, grant, dissertation, or thesis. The best time to migrate is after a project is completed, or when you have ample time to make the migration and learn the new tool before your next project is due. Papers started in Legacy RefWorks will not be compatible with New RefWorks, so we recommend you keep your current Legacy RefWorks account until you complete your work.
  2. Make the move. When you’re ready, sign in to your Legacy RefWorks account, click “Move to the newest version of RefWorks from ProQuest” along the top of your screen, and follow the steps as prompted.
  3. Install plugins, if desired. Once signed in to your New RefWorks account, click your name in the upper corner and click Tools. Install the Save to RefWorks bookmarklet and Write-and-Cite plugin. If you already use the Legacy Write-and-Cite plugin, uninstall it before installing the new version.
  4. Know where to find the New RefWorks link. From now on, access RefWorks using the “RefWorks (new version)” link on the BenU Library’s Academic Databases webpage.

You can read annotate, organize, and cite your research as well as collaborate with friends and colleagues by sharing collections. RefWorks’ drag and drop capability along with our smart document recognition makes it easy and fast to upload documents and bibliographic metadata into your library and the Save to RefWorks feature allows you to capture research from websites with the click of a button. From simple bibliographies to papers formatted with in-text citations or footnotes, RefWorks handles it all.
