Getting started with the BenU Library

August 15, 2017

Welcome to all new students and staff, and welcome back to all those returning! Below are five things you can do right now to acquaint or reacquaint yourself with the Benedictine University Library.Ernie the Eagle in the Library

  1. Lisle campus students and staff, take a virtual tour of the Library to learn what each floor has to offer.
  2. Bookmark the Library website ( in your browser so it’s always just a click away.
  3. When you access the Library’s article databases and eBooks from off-campus, you’ll be automatically prompted to sign in with your BenU Login. Practice logging in now to make sure you’re ready for your first research projects of the term. (Note: If you're a new student, you may not be able to sign in until Aug. 28.)
  4. Try out the search boxes in the “Articles,” “Books & Videos,” and “Journals By Title” tabs on the Library homepage. On the “Books & Videos” tab, also take a moment to explore I-Share. As a BenU student or staff member, you can use I-Share to request print books and DVDs from more than 80 academic libraries in Illinois. (Note: Textbooks are typically not available through I-Share.)
  5. Follow us on Instagram or Facebook to receive the latest Library updates and photos.

There’s plenty more to learn about researching at the BenU Library, which is why librarians are here to help. We’re available in-person on the Lisle, Mesa, and Springfield campuses, as well as by chat, phone, and text. You can also schedule an appointment with a librarian in advance by submitting a Research Appointment Request Form. We also offer in-class visits and run in-person and virtual workshops.

We look forward to meeting you. Have a great term!
