Connecting to MyBenU

In order to connect to MyBenU, you must be on the university's network. If you're on campus already and your computer/laptop is connected by either a network cable or you're on either the Ben-Staff or Ben-Stud WiFi network, there's nothing more you need to do. You can simply connect to MyBenU at the link below.

If you are off-campus or only connected to one of the guest WiFi networks*, you will need to connect to the university's network using the Cisco AnyConnect client. Follow the instructions below to install the client on either your Windows or Mac computer.

There are also apps for your iOS and Android devices. Instructions are not included here but we have provided links to their download pages on the left.

Installing the Cisco AnyConnect Windows Client

The Windows client is automatically installed the first time you login via the BenU Connect screen.

  1. Go to and select BenUConnect
  2. On the BenUConnect screen, select SSL-VPN-Tunnel, enter your BenU credentials, and click Login

  3. Once you login, the download and installation of the client will happen automatically. If the download doesn't begin on its own, click the Download button and, once downloaded, install the client.

  4. Once the installation is complete, you will automatically be logged into the university's network. To confirm, look for the AnyCOnnect icon in your system tray

Launching the Cisco AnyConnect Client

Once you've installed the software, any time you want to access MyBenU from off-campus, simply launch the client:

  1. Go to
    • Start > All Programs > Cisco > AnyConnect (Win 7), or
    • Start > Cisco > AnyConnect (Win 10)
  2. Confirm that is in the login screen and click Connect. If the text box is empty, you will need to type the address

  3. Select SSL-VPN-Tunnel from the Group dropdown, enter your BenU credentials, and then click OK.


You're now logged into the network and can access MyBenU from the button below.

Installing the Cisco AnyConnect Mac Client

  1. Download the Mac client to your computer
  2. Double-click the install file to start the installation
  3. Double click the AnyConnect.pkg icon:

  4. Click Continue in the Introduction and Software License Agreement screens:

  5. When you get to the Installation Type screen, deselct all options except for VPN. If asked where to install the software, select your main hard drive.

  6. Click Continue.
  7. When you see the Standard Installation screen, click Install.

  8. When prompted, log in with your Mac credentials (this is the user ID and password that you use to log into your Mac computer, not your BenU crednetials)

  9. Once the installation is complete, you'll see the confirmation screen


Launching the Cisco AnyConnect Client

Once you've installed the software, launch it to log into the Benedictine network:

  1. Find it under Applications or use <Cmd><Space> to search for "Anyconnect"
  2. Once launched, enter the address and click Connect

  3. Enter your BenU credentials and click OK


You're now logged into the Benedictine network. Any time you want to access MyBenU while off-campus, simply launch the Cisco AnyConnect software and log in.
