Oboist Alicia Cordoba Tait will kick off a series of free noon concerts during the 2007-2008 school year on Monday, September 24 in the Krasa Center Fireside Lounge on the campus of Benedictine University. The concerts are sponsored by the Department of Music and are open to the public. Other Department of Music events scheduled for the 2007-08 school year are: Monday, October 29 – Concert at Noon Series, Benedictine University Faculty Jazz Ensemble, Krasa Fireside Lounge. Saturday-Sunday, November 3-4 – Festival of the Arts, Benet Academy’s St. Daniel Hall. Saturday, November 3: Preparatory Music Program Recital, 12:00 p.m. Benedictine Applied Students Recital, 1:00 p.m. Voice Students of Victoria VerHoven and Marc Stingley, 2:30 p.m. Kaleeya Furlow, Senior Voice Recital, 4:00 p.m. Sunday, November 4: Concert Band performs “Music Year Round” at 4:00 p.m. Monday, November 25 – Concert at Noon Series, World Music Concert, Krasa Fireside Lounge. Sunday, December 2 – “Lessons and Carols” featuring the Benedictine University Concert Choir, Concert Band and faculty, 7:30 p.m. at St. Procopius Abbey. Saturday, December 8 – New Horizons Band Holiday Concert at Benet Academy’s St. Daniel Hall, tickets are $4. Saturday, February 9 – Benedictine International Music Competition semifinals, time TBA at Benet Academy’s St. Daniel Hall. Tuesday, February 26 – Concert at Noon Series, Benedictine University Faculty Concert, Krasa Fireside Lounge. Monday, March 31 – Concert at Noon Series, Women in Music Concert, Krasa Fireside Lounge. Friday-Sunday, April 11-13 – Festival of the Arts, Benet Academy’s St. Daniel Hall. Friday, April 11: The Benedictine University Concert Choir and Chamber Orchestra, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 12: Preparatory Music Program Recital, 12:00 p.m.; Benedictine Applied Students Recital, 2:00 p.m.; Voice Students of Victoria VerHoven and Marc Stingley, 4:00 p.m.; International Music Competition Concert, 7:30 p.. Sunday, April 13: Junior and Senior Recitals, 12:00-2:00 p.m.; Concert Band “Music of the Day,” 4:00 p.m. Monday, April 16 – Concert at Noon Series featuring the Jazz Eagles under the direction of Luis Loubriel, Ph.D., Krasa Fireside Lounge. Sunday, April 27– Sacred Concert featuring the Benedictine University Concert Choir and Chamber Orchestra, 7:30 p.m. at St. Procopius Abbey. Monday, April 28 – Concert at Noon Series, Benedictine University Student Ensembles. Saturday, May 17 – New Horizons Band Spring Concert , 3:00 p.m. at Benet Academy’s St. Daniel Hall, tickets are $4.
