Benedictine University freshman Kate Korzeniewski (Marian Catholic H.S.) may not have won the heptathlon at the North Central Gregory Invitational, but she certainly can chalk it up as a victory. In her first-ever venture into the seven-event competition, Korzeniewski managed to score points in every event. That's a pretty impressive feat considering that the diminutive Korzeniewski had never even attempted some of the events prior. Korzeniewski racked up 2,496 points and Head Coach Jon Wolcott thought that was a good score as Korzeniewski builds toward her future in track. "I was very happy with her performance," said Wolcott. "Kate is just going to get better and better as she goes along. She competed very well and I look forward to her development as a heptathlete."
