Benedictine University freshman outside hitter Kayla Leyden has been named as the Northern Athletics Conference "Student-Athlete of the Week" for the period of September 3-9. During that span, the Eagles went 4-1, including winning the Jim Coleman Memorial Tournament at Aurora University. Leyden was named the "MVP" of the Coleman Tournament. In the five matches on the week - and 13 total games played - Leyden had a .341 attack percentage and had double-digit kill totals in all of the matches except BU's blowout win over Mt. Mary College (in which she played just one game). On the week, Leyden got it done on both sides of the net. She averaged 4.4 kills per game on offense and 3.8 digs per game defensively.
