The Benedictine University softball team will open play in the 2007 Northern Athletics Conference Tournament on Thursday (May 3). The six-team event runs from May 3-5 at Jericho Park in Aurora and is being hosted by Aurora University. Benedictine (21-18-1), the fourth seeded team, will take on fifth-seeded Edgewood College in the tournament opener at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The winner of that game will face top seeded Aurora at 9:00 a.m. on Friday (May 4). In the other opening round game on Thursday, third-seeded Marian plays sixth seed Concordia (Wis.). That game's winner faces second seed Lakeland College at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Edgewood swept the regular season meeting with Benedictine, winning by scores of 4-0 and 5-2 in Lisle. The tournament is double-elimination format.
