Benedictine throws specialist Matt Wilkin (Bolingbrook, Ill.Bolingbrook H.S.) was named as the Northern Athletics Conference Student-Athlete of the Week in men's track and field for the period ending April 16. It is Wilkin's third weekly honor from the NAC, also winning twice during the indoor season. Last Saturday at the Elmhurst Invitational, Wilkin threw the hammer 165'7" to surpass former teammate Mike MacPhee's previous school mark of 161'1" (set in 2006). Wilkin placed second in the hammer at Elmhurst and was the highest finisher from an NCAA Division III school (throwers from DePaul took first and third place). Wilkin also won the dicus with a heave of 132'3". He was also sixth in the shot put and ninth in the javelin at the invitational.
