Benedictine University's volleyball team did not get the start to the 2008 season it had hoped for, going 1-3 in the two-day Dominican University Star Classic tournament. The Eagles opened Saturday's competition with a 3-0 loss at the hands of Augustana College, 25-23, 26-24, 25-20. Benedictine bounced back to take Grinnell College (Iowa) in four sets (25-13, 19-25, 25-9, 25-22). On Sunday, BU was taken down by the University of Chicago in three sets (25-16, 25-21, 25-17), followed by a four-game loss to the host Dominican University team (25-22, 26-28, 25-19, 25-16). Benedictine junior Sarah Ruzicka (Quincy, Ill./Quincy Notre Dame H.S.) was named to the all-tournament team.
