Men’s basketball standout Jared Bailey (Argo, Ill./Argo Community H.S.) has been honored as the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) “Student-Athlete of the Week” for the second time this season. This most recent award covers the period of February 9-15, 2009. Bailey led the Eagles’ team in scoring in both games last week, as Benedictine University claimed the Northern Athletics Conference South Division title with a 74-71 win over rival Aurora University. BU then secured the No. 1-seed for this week's NAC postseason tournament with a 78-64 victory over NAC North champ Edgewood College in last Saturday's "NAC Challenge Game". The shooting guard hit nearly 54 percent (14-26) from the field, averaging 25.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game as Benedictine earned its first conference championship since the 2000-01 season.

Benedictine University is an independent Roman Catholic institution located in Lisle, Illinois just 25 miles west of Chicago. Founded in 1887, Benedictine provides 56 undergraduate majors, 16 graduate and four doctorate programs. The Chronicle of Higher Education recently ranked Benedictine University as the seventh fastest-growing campus among private nonprofit master’s universities, and Forbes magazine named Benedictine among the top 20 percent of America’s colleges for 2011. Benedictine University’s Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) program is listed by Crain’s Chicago Business as the fourth largest in the Chicago area in 2011.
